About Mons

Mons is the third biggest city in Wallonie (the french-speaking part of Belgium) with 100.000 inhabitants. It is the sixth commercial center in Belgium and has 4 masterpieces recognized as world heritage by the UNESCO. Mons was European Capital of Culture in 2015.

Despite its long history and old buildings, the city is filled with life thanks to the many students from the different universities and higher schools based in Mons. Mons is also the city of a very popular festival (in June), the Ducasse de Mons (Doudou).

Accomodation

Participants should arrange for their own accomodation. However, we have pre-booked some rooms and negotiated discounted prices (see below). The center of the city (Grand Place) is only 15 minutes walk to the Campus de la Plaine. Here are some links to help you to find hotels in Mons:
