Computer Science Curriculum
Our Masters programme
The Institute is responsible for a Bachelor and Master degree in Sciences Informatiques. The Bachelor cycle of 3 years provides students with a solid scientific formation in the fundamental aspects of computing, accompanied by lots of practical exercises and guided projects. This prepares them for the Masters cycle of 1 or 2 years (with Professional or Research focus), during which more advanced courses are taught.
At masters level, students have the choice between the
- research focus (finalité approfondie) that prepares the student for doctoral studies
- professional focus (finalité specialisée) that prepares the student for a job in (software) industry
- professional focus (finalité specialisée) in artificial intelligence and data analytics (new, starting in 2019-2020).
Among the master courses, 60 credits (of a total of 120 credits) have to be selected in a set of optional topics :
- Data science and artificial intelligence
- Computer networks and security
- Software development
- Multimedia signal processing
- Optimization and decision support
- Numerical and statistical analysis
- Theoretical computer science
- Entrepreneurship and creative technologies
- Sciences and society
- Foreign languages
We also offer a Masters programme in evening studies in Charleroi, in collaboration with the Université Libre de Bruxelles. It provides two different Masters degrees (60 or 120 credits) with possible additional courses (up to 60 credits). This programme is targeted towards adults having professional software experience, and desiring to complete or deepen their knowledge in computer science.
